THE MEMORIAL BRICK PROGRAM

The Monument Terrace Memorial Brick Program:

The Lynchburg Area Veterans Council (LAVC) through an agreement with the Lynchburg City Planners has received permission to conduct a memorial brick program alongside the Monument Terrace Memorial on the Church Street sidewalk.  It is the desire of the LAVC, with the willingness of the city planners, to honor our community heroes and have a lasting monument in their honor.  Through this program, the Lynchburg Area Veterans Council has the responsibility to cover the cost of purchase, shipping and installation of the bricks along Monument Terrace and desires to keep each brick as reasonable as possible.  The price of each (4 in x 8 in) brick will be $50 or $56 for a brick with logo.  As a non-profit 501(C) 3 organization, additional monies collected above the program costs will go directly back to veterans in our community. 

CONDITIONS:

1.  Each brick should; a.) Memorialize a veteran with family ties to central Virginia, b.) Patriots, or c.) First Responders (Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical, and Fire) who has shown honorable service within our community.

2.  Bricks at the purchaser’s option may include a logo that represents any of the following: Military, Professional or Religious (no sports, nature, animals, etc…)

3.  The cost of each brick is $50 which includes three lines, 20 spaces per line.  With a logo, 15 spaces per line and an additional $6 per brick ($56).

4.  Bricks will be installed in lots of 252 bricks per 8ft x 6ft section; each section is installed when enough bricks have been ordered.

5.  Bricks will be installed in front of the Monument Terrace Building.

6.  The red clay bricks engraved with Baskerville font was chosen by city planners with bricks being installed by a local mason.

7.  Lynchburg Area Veterans Council is responsible for replacing broken or faulty bricks via MOU with the City.

8.  Language will conform to public civility standards, there will be no bad, coarse or insensitive language engraved on any brick.

9.  LAVC reserves the right to review and reject bricks that do not adhere to the above standards

10.  Spelling, punctuation and correct logo are the responsibility of the person ordering the brick.
